Project name: Baveria 410 Dodger, Bimini and Cockpit Enclosure
Material used: Vinistar extruded clear vinyl and Stamoid Top
Fabric Supplied by: TopFab

What did the client request?

The clients’ brief for this job was to make adjustments and add to their current stainless steel dodger and bimini frames to create a much more functional cockpit area for cruising. The client requested the project to be carried out using quality, strong materials, and fixings to be suitable for off shore cruising.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The project was challenging in the respect that we were using, adjusting and adding to the existing stainless steel frames to save on the overall cost of the project. With the final result of making the usable cockpit area bigger, while keeping all aspects of the boat functional such as winches, self steering mechanisms, saloon, and cockpit entries. Also requested by the client was a soft removable rain catching device to gather and collect fresh rain water from the run off of the bimini top.

It was particularly challenging keeping the enclosed cockpit ergonomically suited to the crew on board while being restricted with factors like boom height, a steep saloon entry, high cockpit stern, and folding solar panels.

What were the results of the project?

The clients’ were very pleased with the final outcome of their replacement spray dodger, bimini, and new cockpit enclosure. Soon after completion they set off for some short coastal trips and found the new set up and enclosure very functional with all their project expectations fulfilled and succeeded.

Is there any other relevant information?

This project involved a lot of personal meetings with the customers throughout the stages of production to ensure the final outcome fit all their needs. The boat is now ocean ready and they are all set for their 3 year cruising trip starting soon.
