Project name: Double Burger
Material used: Felt
Designer: Bootleg

What did the client request?

Our client, working on behalf of a fast-food chain, asked us to make them a chicken burger that was also a bed. It was to be used as part of an advertising campaign across social media and on television.

The bed was inspired by a famous art piece that made the cover of Equire magazine in 1972. We don’t know why it was famous… (photo of the original included).

What is unique or complex about the project?

Everything about this project was unique.

Creating textures was a fun challenge. The fitted sheet that for the mattress needed to look like it was a chicken breast fresh out of the deep-fryer. Creating sides that were scrunched and retained this look was a massive artistic endeavour. A combination of spray glue, many hands and patience was the key.

What were the results of the project?

The burger turned out great and was used extensively on TV, in social media campaigns and in-store.

Is there any other relevant information?

At the end of the advertising campaign we were offered the burger if we wanted it. If only we had the space…
