What did the client request?
The client requested that we line all of the walls and roof so that no alloy could be seen, and design removable roof panels for easy access to electrical wiring. We needed to custom make all seating, bunks and fit out the main cabin in a style that matched a photo sent to us by the client. We also needed to take patterns for the stern, duckboard, bow and roof, send to supplier for scanning and CNC cutting, and then install the soft cell matting to all areas.
What is unique or complex about the project?
All of this project was completed offsite, which meant taking a lot of accurate templates and patterns in order for the panels, seating and deck covering to fit perfectly when installed. Because this was also a time-sensitive project it meant we were having to work alongside other tradespersons (painters, welders, glaziers, marine electricians) within a confined space whilst taking each companies Health and Safety regulations in to consideration.
What were the results of the project?
Despite not having exclusive access to the boat, the complete fit out met all of the specifications that the client had stipulated, and resulted in a very smart, professional looking offshore vessel which received fantastic reviews.
Is there any other relevant information?
Because this project was on a very strict deadline, there were a number of tradespeople working in and on the boat at any one time. Normally we would have exclusive access to a boat in order to get a smooth, uninterrupted run when carpeting or fitting deck mouldings. Our marine trimmers had to be extremely patient and flexible often travelling to and from the worksite multiple times in a day (and outside normal working hours) and yet still managing to execute a faultless fit out.
