What did the client request?

NZ Cricket approached us with the idea of a completely clear marquee allowing training groups to prepare for overseas tours on grass wickets through the winter.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The marquee has a controlled atmosphere with air flow systems each end to control grass growth. The completely clear marquee is region rated for wind and snow loading, arched purlins have been used to strengthen the marquee. Zip tracked roller walls were designed specifically to easily bring machinery inside. Soft guttering with hard downpipes control waterflow around the marquee. Earth anchors are used to secure the 18mx48m Marquee.

What were the results of the project?

Feedback on this project has been outstanding and gone beyond their expectations. The plan is to introduce more of the training grounds around the country.

Is there any other relevant information?

The controlled atmosphere regulates the moisture in the wickets emulating the wickets on overseas grounds. The guttering controls the moisture on the exterior of the marquee.
