As you may know, Workforce Development Councils such as Hanga-Aro-Rau will wind up in December of this year, replaced by new Industry Skills Boards (ISBs) which will be operational from January 2026. To establish the ISB and ensure they are industry-led from the outset, the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is urgently seeking nominations for Industry representatives to sit on Establishment Advisory Groups. Applications close this Friday, June 13th. These groups will exist from mid-2025 until the end of the year to support the establishment of the new ISBs. Their focus is on governance and organisation establishment rather than industry advocacy. For FAQs on the consultation on Industry Skills Boards’ coverage see TEC website here. TEC want members of the Establishment Advisory Groups to have some experience in governance, change management, industry, and an understanding of education and training. Although the Government is yet to confirm the finalised coverage for ISBs, we encourage any of our stakeholders to put themselves forward or nominate someone they believe meets the above criteria. You can nominate candidates (with their permission) by completing this form by 13 June 2025. Although later nominations are welcome, we encourage industry to make nominations now. This will enable TEC to promptly appoint Establishment Advisory Groups once the Government has made decisions about the number and coverage of Industry Skills Boards. The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) will pay all members of the Establishment Advisory Groups. Members should expect to commit up to two to four days per month from July to December 2025. |
