What did the client request?
The purpose of the project was to help guide guests to the entrance of the reception, cafe and bar area, as well as provide shelter over this area. Their specifications were that it needed to be a cylinder shaped to keep in theme with the hotel and they wanted it to glow at night.
What is unique or complex about the project?
The area we were to work with had various angles. The front of the canopy was 2.2m and angled back to 1.3m, so we were to come up with a product a cylinder shaped canopy to fit this area, and at the same time ensure it would visually be in proportion to front of the building.
It also required to be angled so it would line up with the entrance, giving it an inviting look and draw guests to the area. We were required to come up with a design that would allow rain to run off, be structurally sound and look good.
What were the results of the project?
Our clients were so impressed with the finished product, from the design to the quality. It met their brief way beyond what they expected.

We designed and manufactured a steel frame in house, to match the arches of the building.
25mm box section galvanised steel was used and the ribs were rolled to our specification by our local engineering, it was then taken to site and prefitted so we could ensure all curves and angles fitted perfectly. The frame was then welded together and powdercoated to match the existing trim of the building.
The main body of the canopy was covered in PVC with the front wedge shaped panels filled in with a perspex covered in a translucent film to allow them to glow at night.
